Honda Models Top 5-Year Cost to Own
Honda Models Top 5-Year Cost to Own! Recently Kelley Blue Book named three Honda models, the 2018 Honda Odyssey, HR-V, and Civic Si, in the 2018 Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own Awards for the lowest projected cost of ownership in their respective segments for the initial five-year ownership period. These costs include depreciation, fuel costs, financing, insurance, states fees and fees for scheduled maintenance and repairs. This is the third consecutive year that the HR-V has topped the Subcompact SUV segment.
Honda vehicles took home top honors in the following categories:
- Sporty Compact Car: 2018 Honda Civic Si: “But it’s the “bang” part of that equation that matters most to Civic Si buyers, which we covered in our first review of the recently redesigned model: “Motivation for this eighth-generation Si comes from a high-output 1.5-liter direct-injected turbo 4-cylinder with dual variable cam timing that has been tuned to be more potent as well as more street friendly. While its 205 horsepower only matches that of its naturally aspirated predecessor, this time around that output arrives at a more civilized 5,700 rpm, 1,300 revs lower than before. Even more significant, max torque has been upped from 174 to 192 lb-ft but now peaks at just 2,100 rpm instead of 4,400 revs and holds steady at that level until 5,000 rpm.”
- Subcompact SUV/Crossover: 2018 Honda HR-V: “The Honda HR-V subcompact crossover has only been in existence for three years now, but every year of its young life has come with a 5-Year Cost to Own Award. Put simply, Honda’s smallest SUV outsizes its growing list of competitors.”
- Minivan: 2018 Honda Odyssey: “Totally redesigned for 2018, the fifth-generation Honda Odyssey is this year’s 5-Year Cost to Own champion in the minivan category. It’s also the segment’s Best Resale Value Award winner, one of our 12 Best Family Cars of 2018, and our Minivan Best Buy of 2018. Suffice it to say, the new Odyssey is one heck of a minivan.”
